Chevrolet Models 2000-2020
Astro
Produced from 1992 to 2005, the Chevrolet Astro van gets its power from a V6 engine. One of the first all-wheel drive minivans available, the Astrois well-known for its squared design features and bulldog appearance. Many found the Astro useful in a variety of ways beyond just a daily driver. In fact, some people have actually converted old Astro vans into mobile homes they use to travel around the country, to places like San Tan Valley.
Avalanche
The Chevrolet Avalanche handed off the pickup truck baton to the Colorado and Silverado in 2013, after only having been produced for 6 years. The Chevy Avalanche competed with iconic rivals but was original in design and size. SunTec's team of windshield replacement technicians can quickly install new auto glass or complete a chip/crack repair at your home or place you work at. Distinguishing features included a folding gate between the bed and rear seats that allowed for extra storage and hauling capabilitiesand an active fuel management system that boosted fuel economy for highway drives, which is especially helpful if you're traveling from Phoenix to Peoria and Surprise.
Aveo
One of the smaller compact sedans from Chevrolet, the Aveo was last available in 2011, in either a sedan or hatch variant. Aveos are the perfect vehicle to haul behind your motorhome, especially if you're making a trip near Ahwatukee to visit the South Mountain Park and Preserve. The Aveo looks similar to the Chevrolet Sonic and Spark twins, likely the predecessor for these two hot hatches.
Blazer
Though a new version of the Blazer has arrived, the model last garnered the public's attention in 2005. Produced since the early 90s, the Blazer was powered by a 4.3-liter V6 but customers can now choose from different engine options. The new Blazer can tow up to 4,500 pounds when properly equipped and starts just under $30,000. Conquer the streets of Gilbert and Chandler while still being able to make it out to San Tan Valley with the capable Blazer.
Bolt
Need to make it from Surprise to San Tan Valley? No problem! The Chevrolet Bolt has you covered, with its 238-mile range and powerful motor. Producing 200 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque from a single AC synchronous motor, the Bolt competes directly with the Nissan Leaf for electric hatch rights. More affordable than the BMW i3, the Chevrolet Bolt is a strong alternative to a boring commute.
Camaro
If you're looking to cruise from Tempe to Phoenix in a bit of a hurry, check out the Chevrolet Camaro. Produced from 1992 to 2002 and then again in 2010 to present day, the Camaro is nearly as popular as the Chevrolet Corvette when it comes to sports cars. Available as a coupe or convertible, the Camaro sees its most powerful variant in the Exorcist Camaro done by Hennessey , with 959 horsepower stemming from both a supercharger and a turbocharger. This speed demon will cost you nearly $120,000 but it may be worth it for some.
Camaro SS
Not quite as powerful as the Hennessey variant but still beefy in its own right, the Camaro SS nameplate has been around for quite some time. The newest model has 455 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque, via a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 mated to either an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. Magnetic Ride Control will keep you comfortable while the 3 available radiators will cool your ride in the Glendale heat.
Camaro RS
The Camaro RS is an appearance package available on the LT models. With a blacked-out grille, LED headlamps, and 20-inch wheels, the Camaro RS adds a bit of flair to the otherwise sporty body. You can find the Camaro RS designation on old models as well. Did you know that the "RS" actually stands for Rally Sport? On the sandy dirt roads of rural Arizona, you should be able to test out the rally sport feature pretty easily.
Camaro z28
It's rare for a brand to have competing high-performance sports cars in one family, but Chevrolet seems to do okay with the Camaro and the Corvette under the same roof. While the Camaro z28 can't quite match the Corvette ZR1's massive horsepower output, 505 horsepower via a 7.0-liter V8 isn't quite the penalty box The z28 was made as a limited run, mostly because it was the most track-oriented model at least, before the 1LE model came out. Priced just over $70,000, the z28has always been synonymous with power and sporty styling.
Camaro ZL1
Taking a leaf from the Corvette's playbook, the Camaro ZL1 faces the supercar competition head-on, with headers blaring. If the aerodynamical features on the exterior of the ZL1 don't tell you what it has in store, a single exhaust note from the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine will. With 650 horsepower and an equal amount of torque, the Camaro ZL1 definitely needs those Brembo 6-piston front rotors to stop in time. The ZL1 also comes in convertible form .
Camaro 1LE
Sold as a track package on the 2019 Camaro, the 1LE lineup includes a satin black hood, a unique rear spoiler, a front splitter, RECARO seats, Brembo brakes, 20-inch black wheels,a dual-mode exhaust, and a Track Cooling Package. Succeeding the z28 as themost track-oriented Corvette in production today, the 1LE can be fitted to most Corvette models. Speak with your local Chevrolet dealership if you're curious about what else the 1LE Track Package has to offer. And if you're lucky enough to see one on the roads in Phoenix, make sure you've got your phone handy!
Captiva
Sold for only 3 years after its debut in 2012, the Chevrolet Captiva was a compact SUV that was eventually replaced by the Equinox. Initially sold as a fleet vehicle, the Captiva was powered by a 2.4-liter Flex Fuel 4-cylinder engine making 180 horsepower. Rather fuel efficient for the time, the Captiva could achieve an estimated 20 city and 28 highway EPA-estimated miles-per-gallon. Perhaps some of your local Goodyear businesses use the Captiva for their commercial needs.
Cavalier
Chevrolet Cavaliers were similar to other makes in the early 90s to the mid-2000s; affordably priced and abundantly available, these models were the perfect first car and/or commuter car for a lot of families. The Cavalier was available as a sedan, coupe, wagon, or convertible for most model years, though the sedan and coupe eventually outlived the wagon and convertible forms. The Chevrolet Cavalier was also the replacement for the Monza. Let SunTec replace your Chevrolet windshield or make a simple chip repair. Give us a call today at 480-900-7010!
Cobalt
As popular as the Cavalier was, the Cobalt soon succeeded the smaller sedan only to then be replaced by the Cruze. The base Cobalt was powered by small 2.0-liter variants of the Ecotec engine, though the 2 runs of the Super Sport (SS) model first had a supercharger and then a turbocharger for big horsepower output. The Cavalier's doors might have been standard size, but the coupe models of the Cobalt had doors nearly the length of a FIAT 500. Line a Cobalt coupe up to a FIAT 500 in Chandler and see for yourself.
Colorado
Whether it's named for the state or the powerful river that carved out the Grand Canyon , the Chevrolet Colorado is no slouch when it comes to thethings a lighter-duty pickup truck can accomplish. The model debuted in 2004 and has been selling crazy ever since then. A gas V6 and a diesel 4-cylinder engine are available on 2019 variants and customers can choose from either an automatic or a manual transmission. When properly equipped, the Colorado can tow up to 7,600 pounds .
Corvette
Named for a small, maneuverable warship, the Corvette has quite a following of its own. The Corvette was actually introduced back in 1953 as a concept car. The rear-wheel drive coupe can easily be identified as each generation is named first with the prefix "C" and then the corresponding number . The 2020 Corvette will be named C8 for the 8th
Corvette Grand Sport
You're bound to see a Corvette driving around in Chandler, Gilbert, or even Surprise. The Grand Sport Corvette, however, is something you'll probably hear before you see it. With 460 horsepower, the Grand Sport is made for power and handling. The LT1 V8 engine is paired to either a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed paddle shift automatic. Drivers will sit pretty in a carbon fiber cockpit designed to enhance the sporty ride.
Corvette C5
The fifth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette was produced from 1997 to 2004. Differences that set this generation apart from earlier models include a rear-mounted trans axle that improves handling and a whole lot of unique color options. In fact, there's even a 24 Hours of Le Mans Commemorative Edition package available, making this generation one to remember. Head down to the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and you're sure to spot a few streaking down the track.
Corvette C6
Known as the first Corvette with exposed headlamps, the sixth generation was produced from 2005 to 2013. Available iterations in this generation include a Z06, the ZR1, the Grand Sport, and a 427 Convertible. Not many people realize that the Cadillac XLR was actually built on the same platform underpinning the Corvette. We don't think it's possible to mistake one for the other, though. If you're a Corvette lover in Arizona, keep your eyes peeled on the streets for this iconic sixth generation.
Corvette C7
Past models of the Corvette suffered from a lack of adequate consideration when it came to the interior, but this next generation finally got the attention it deserved. The engine is equipped with Active Fuel Management, which allows for better fuel economy, especially when on the highway. Produced from 2014 to 2019, the latest generation of the Corvette is the first to bear the Stingray name since the 1968. You've probably seen quite a few of these Corvettes ripping down the streets of downtown Glendale, racing anyone who dares to challenge them.
Corvette ZR1
Though the Grand Sport model has a respectable 460 horsepower, it's truly the ZR1 variant that you should be worried about if you find yourself lined up against one at a light in Chandler. Equipped with a whopping 755 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, the ZR1 has a starting price of around $123,000. For that much dough, you'll enjoy a carbon fiber hood on the most powerful production Corvette made thus far.
Corvette C8 (2020)
There is much buzz about the new Corvette rumored to be available later this year. Slated for July 18, 2019, the debut cannot come soon enough for Corvette enthusiasts world-wide. The newest model is mid-engine, which represents a bold move to supercar territory. There have only been camouflaged models spotted so far, but there's also talk of a new name for the C8 generation. Get in touch with the folks at Sands Chevrolet in Glendale (or your nearest Chevrolet dealership) to get more information on this hot model.
Cruze
In its final year, the Cruze was first produced in 2008 to succeed the Chevrolet Cobalt. This compact car is offered as a sedan or a hatch and in some years, a 6-speed manual transmission is available. The name "Cruze" was previously used in Japan. A diesel powertrain is also available, though the vehicle already has pretty high fuel economy ratings. You can learn more about the last Cruze built here in the United States by clicking here but you've probably seen quite a few around most Arizona neighborhoods.
Express
It seems every brand has their own take on a cargo van, but Chevrolet is unique in that they've kept the model relatively the same since it first appeared on the market. The model is powered by a 3-liter V6 engine capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds. Though Chevrolet does not offer the Express with an extended roof or all-wheel drive like other brands, this maxi-van can hold up to 15 passengers (when seats are installed, of course). Planning on a trip around the Phoenix or Glendale area? Maybe renting a Chevrolet Express van can help you get the job done!
HHR
Did you know that the Chevrolet HHR stands for "Heritage High Roof"? This quirky concept car first debuted at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show and was reportedly inspired by the Chevrolet Suburban of old. Bryan Nesbittis credited as the head designer and in fact he is responsible in large part for the PT Cruiser as well. The HHR was built from 2006 to 2011 and would be easy to maneuver around the downtown streets of Chandler.
Impala
One of the more iconic nameplates of the Chevrolet lineup, the Impala has come back in various forms throughout the years. Available first from 1958 to 1985, the Impala also returned from 1994 to 1996 and then again in 2000. A Police Package was released in 2000. Named the highest-selling Chevrolet of all time, the Impala has sold over 16 million units thus far. The Impala is driven by V6 and V8 engines, plenty of powerfor cruising down from Peoria to Glendale.
Kodiak
If you're driving through the streets of Phoenix and see a Chevrolet Kodiak, you're bound to feel small, no matter what size vehicle you're in. The Kodiak is part of Chevrolet's medium-duty truck lineup and was produced from 1980 through 2009. Most Kodiaks saw use for a variety of personal and commercial purposes, including school buses. An 8.1-liter V8 engine was the biggest powerplant available, but customers could also choose from a 7.8-liter diesel 6-cylinder or a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 engine instead.
Malibu
Descendant of the Chevrolet Chevelle, the Malibu shares some of the same heritage found in the Impala. It was first produced in 1964 and came back to the market in 1997. The Malibu is named for a Californian community and actually came in a hybrid variant in 2009. A 4-cylinder, V6, and a V8 comprise many of the powerplants available throughout the years. The Malibu is a perfect vehicle to rent if you're traveling to the Grand Canyon or any of the other popular Arizonian landmarks.
Monte Carlo
Race fans out there will likely have heard of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Named for Monte Carlo, Monaco, this model is Chevrolet's take on the personal luxury car. There are many variations inspired by NASCAR drivers. In fact, the Monte Carlo was a pace car from 2001 to 2003. The civilian model was produced from 1970 to 2007.
S-10
Many people don't know that Chevrolet actually produced an electric S-10 in 1997. The compact electric pickup had a range of 45 miles and only took 2 and a half hours to fully charge. Eventually replaced by the Colorado, the S-10 did have a pretty good gas-engine fuel economy rating as well. In 1982, the first year of the S-10, highway miles-per-gallon ratings neared 40. The last S-10 was produced in 2004.
Silverado
Heading to Lake Powell for some boating, fishing, and fun? Check out the Silverado, Chevrolet's entry into to the full-size pickup arena. The Chevrolet Silverado also represents the bowtie in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. "Silverado" was originally the name of a trim package but soon succeeded the C/K pickup series to become the brand's 4WD flagship. The Silverado SS competes with the Cadillac Escalade for power and style, but many may not realize that Chevrolet did offer the Silverado with a hybrid powertrain in 2004.
Sonic
A lot of rental car companies stock the Chevrolet Sonic, so you might have driven it through Phoenix and the surrounding cities if you reserved a car at the airport. The Sonic is available in both sedan and hatchback forms and is rather affordably priced. With tons of safety equipment and a spunky 4-liter turbo engine, the Sonic will get you where you need to go without the need for a large parking space. The Sonic has been in production since 2012.
Spark
Most of you might know the Chevrolet Spark from the Transformer movie franchise. Skidz and Mudflap may look nothing like the standard Spark you'll see on any Chevrolet dealership lot, but underneath all that movie magic there's quite a capable compact car. This commuter-friendly vehicle is affordably priced and comes with either a 5-speed manual or a continuously-variable transmission (CVT). An electric version is available in certain parts of the United States.
SS
Only a true automotive enthusiast will remember the Chevrolet SS. Built for the midsize segment, the SS was sold from 2013 to 2017 and price points neared $50,000. Though it was Australian made, the SS was rear-wheel drive and fitted with a 415-horsepower V8 engine. The model resembled a beefy Cruze or 4-door Cobalt in the right light but sadly didn't make the cut to continue past the 4-year mark.
SSR
Otherwise known as the Super Sport Roadster, the Chevrolet SSR was categorized as a hardtop convertible pickup. Think El Camino with a bit more aerodynamic abilities and you've got the look of the polarizing SSR. Produced only between 2003 and 2006, the model came fitted with a LS2 V8 motor beneath the hood, which paired to an automatic or manual transmission. New, the model would cost you around $40,000. An early production model served as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 in 2003. You may even see one on the track at the Arizona Speedway.
Suburban
First produced in the year 1953, the Suburban is the longest continuously-running nameplate in the United States. The Chevrolet Suburban has been used in a variety of military applications but has seen quite a lot of road time in the consumer market. The newest Chevrolet Burban ranges in price from $50,000 up to $70,000 when fully loaded. If you're traveling to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the Suburban will have plenty of room for all your luggage.
Tahoe
Reportedly named for Lake Tahoe, this midsize SUV began production in 1995 and continues to represent Chevrolet today. Similar to the GMC Yukon, the Tahoe is sold in a variety of countries, often as a left-hand-drive vehicle. Powered by a V8 engine, this SUV can tow up to 8,600 pounds when properly equipped. You may find the Tahoe's ritzier cousin, the Cadillac Escalade, to be a standard vehicle choice in and around Paradise Valley.
Tracker
Perfect for maneuvering around the streets of Mesa, AZ, the Chevrolet Tracker was replaced by the Equinox model but featured a similarly small-sized frame. Available as either a 2-door or 4-door SUV, the Tracker was actually based on a light-truck chassis. Now considered part of the old generation of utes, the Tracker was priced about $15,000-$20,000 new.
TrailBlazer
Though there is rumored to be a 2021 model debuting soon, the TrailBlazer saw its hey-day in the early 2000s. Powered by an inline-6-cylinder engine or an optional V8, the TrailBlazer utilized the Active Fuel Management system also found in the Avalanche. The TrailBlazer was built on the same platform as the Colorado from 2001 to 2008.
Traverse
Still in production today, the Chevrolet Traverse sits directly beneath the Tahoe in terms of size. Equipped with similar amounts of legroom and cargo capacity, the Traverse also has a Rear Seat Reminder feature, which alerts the driver if there is someone or something occupying the rear seat.Although if you're headed to Tempe's Beach Park, you'll probably only see a blur running down to the beach.
Trax
Great for the streets of Glendale, the Chevrolet Trax is available in front-wheel and all-wheel drive. Fuel economy figures hover around 24 city and 29 highway EPA-estimated MPG, which is respectable coming from a subcompact SUV fitted with a 4-liter turbocharged engine.
Uplander
Not many people know that Chevrolet actually produced 2 minivan models besides the Astro. Though the Venture came first in the lineup, the Uplander was mostly produced for the fleet circuit. A 3.9-liter V6 powered this minivan, which was manufactured from 2005 to 2009. The Uplander was marketed abroad, with varying success. If you look closely, you may spot an Uplander in your local Arizonian neighborhood.
Venture
Built in Georgia, the Chevrolet Venture was produced from 1997 to 2005 and subsequently replaced by the Uplander. Available in short and long wheelbases, the Venture was powered by a 3.4-liter V6 engine. Warner Bros. actually sponsored a special edition that ran from 2000 to 2003, though it was really basically an accessory package and special edition paint job. Who knows? Maybe you'll see Roadrunner and hear his "meep-meep" out in the Arizona desert.
Volt
Named the most successful plug-in hybrid in the United States, having sold over 69,000 units and counting, the Chevrolet Volt is powered by both a standard gas engine and an electric motor setup. In fact, the range-extending engine is good for about 300 miles after the electric motor is discharged, so you could probably run from Surprise to San Tan Valley at least a few times before you're stranded. Maybe this is one of the reasons Bob Lutz fought for the model to be produced, even though many forecasted it would flop and lose the company money.
